Animal Testing

Animal Testing is the use of non human animals for the testing of products, such as cosmetics, drugs, and other toiletries. The majority of these products are tested for use on human beings, deeming animal testing in the old technology category. There are many alternatives available, but due to expense of replacing animal methods, many companies refuse to alter their practices. Some animal friendly products are Botanicals (Cruelty Free), The Body Shop (Not tested on animals), Herbal Essences (do not Test on Animals), John Paul Mitchell Systems, Revlon, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Almay. A full list and more information are coming soon.

"I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't...The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further."

--Mark Twain (1835-1910)

"I despise and abhor the pleas on behalf of that infamous practice, vivisection... I would rather submit to the worst of deaths, so far as pain goes, than have a single dog or cat tortured to death on the pretense of sparing me a twinge or two."

--Robert Browning (poet)

MARY KAY ENDS ANIMAL TESTS!!

For 10 years, Mary Kay has kept a moratorium on animal tests. Recently, they decided to sign the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals, a stringent, internationally accepted standard put forth by the Coalition for Consumer information. They are the largest company so far to sign! Their spokesperson said, "Having assessed the current degree of scientific knowledge, the company does not foresee any situation in which animal testing might be necessary in the future".

COLGATE REMOVES MORATORIUM ON ANIMAL TESTS

Colgate products, which are in the adult personal care product line, and were previously declared free of animal testing, are now removed from the moratorium. This includes deodorants, hair care products, fragrances, shaving products, talcs, soaps, and dental products. Contact Colgate to ask why they insist on testing their product on helpless animals as we move rapidly into a new millenium.
